EWING – Citing her long-standing commitment to the fight for equal rights and strong advocacy for pay equity, national powerhouse organization Women’s Campaign Fund has endorsed Assemblywoman Bonnie Watson Coleman in her bid to win New Jersey’s 12th Congressional Democratic Primary.  WCF is a non-partisan national network dedicated to achieving parity for women in public office and has been instrumental in helping elect women on all levels of government throughout the country.

“Women’s Campaign Fund is proud to endorse Bonnie in her race for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District,” said Clare Bresnahan, Political & Programs Director of WCF. “New Jersey hasn’t had a woman’s voice in Congress in 10 years. Electing a highly qualified woman leader like Bonnie would be a great way to end that embarrassing streak. She’s no stranger to making history; Bonnie was the first African American woman to serve as Majority Leader of the New Jersey General Assembly. With her eight consecutive terms in the Assembly, Bonnie has a demonstrated track record of fighting for New Jersey women and their families.”

Watson Coleman thanked the Women’s Campaign Fund for their support.

“Women’s Campaign Fund has been a national powerhouse for decades, helping to get women elected to public office,” said Watson Coleman.  “As the former Chair of the State Democratic Party, I have had many proud opportunities to stand side by side with women throughout New Jersey embarking on, or advancing, their political careers and was honored to work with my friend Barbara Buono when she ran for Governor last year against Chris Christie.  I’ve worked my entire career for equal rights and gender equity and consider those basic tenets of the Democratic Party to be among our guiding lights as our campaign moves forward in this Primary.  I am very proud to receive the Women’s Campaign Fund’s endorsement and look forward to working with them towards victory on June 3rd.”

About the Women’s Campaign Fund:  Founded in 1974, the Women’s Campaign Fund is a non-partisan national network dedicated to achieving parity for women in public office. As political venture capitalists, we work to advance women leaders at all levels of political participation and empower individuals to stand up for issues of critical importance to the health of the nation, including reproductive health.  Through our affiliated Political Action Committee, WCF provides direct financial support to its endorsed candidates. And through our sister organization, She Should Run, we produce original research relevant to women in politics.  We believe that gender parity for women in public office is essential to the strength and future of our nation.  The Women's Campaign Fund is a 501(c)(4) membership organization with an affiliated Political Action Committee.
